We have recently discovered Kauai County Council Bill 2044 that would make the green space in Princeville Phase 1 permanently zoned Open and unavailable for development. The Council passed it on the first reading with a 7-0 vote on December 19, 2002, but it has lain dormant since 2003 due to operational technicalities at the time.
Bill 2044: docs/2020-0915_Bill_No_2044_(MARK-UP).pdf
Bill 2044 is to be reviewed during the Kauai County Council meeting THIS WEDNESDAY 11/25, with the proposal that it can be cancelled. We want this Bill to be revived for at least consideration. It is extremely pertinent to the issues facing all of Princeville today.
If you want to help save over 400 acres of Princeville’s green space, and potentially nullify the proposed Glamping development, this is an excellent opportunity to make your wishes known to the Council. To that end, we are asking you to Email a customized letter to the Council by Monday night, November 23. See below for suggested letter.
Even if the Council decides to cancel the Bill, your submission will have helped raise the proposed loss of Princeville’s green space to the level of the Kauai County Council which will help in future efforts to keep Princeville whole.
Time is of the essence on this.
Aloha and mahalo nui loa,
