SOS Hui Information Survey - Your Feedback Matters

Welcome to the SOS Hui Informational Survey.

Please help us understand what YOU want for the future of Princeville's Open Space by filling out this brief survey. See what (203) others have said by viewing the Summary Report.

The original developer's intent was that the entire 27-hole Makai Golf Course remain part of Princeville's Open Space.

How concerned are you about our current infrastructure being able to support additional housing?

The original 3/20/1970 Princeville-1 Master Plan is now fully built out (housing, hotels, water, sewage, drainage, open space, etc.). Current water restrictions should give you pause.

How important is keeping the County-approved Princeville-1 Master Plan which created a roughly 50/50 ratio between open and developed space?

The developers used the golf courses as the open space for meeting those plans.

How important is keeping the original 27 hole Makai Golf Course (Woods 9, Ocean 9 & Lakes 9) free of development as the original County-approved Princeville-1 Master Plan intended?

Are you aware Starwood Capital Group (1Hotel & Makai Golf Club owner) has known since Dec. 2020 there are anthrax spores buried on the Woods Golf Course?

This was uncovered in the 2021 Kā Paʻakai study in Starwood's permits application to the County Planning Dept. in their attempt to build a 50 tent glamping site on the Woods 1-3. Their submission was withdrawn after County Ordinance 1105 became law.

Are you aware the Woods Golf Course was designed and built to keep spores from the carcasses of hundreds of anthrax-stricken cattle safely buried and blanketed underground?

Confirmed by the original developer, marketing manager and the golf course architect.

Are you aware Starwood's plans include building numerous residential sites across the Woods Golf Course starting in March, 2026?

This is public information stated by Starwood VP, Jason Cruce on numerous occasions. View soil sampling sites to see where they are most likely focused.

Are you aware Starwood has proposed additional development on 1Hotel's current parking area next to Pu‘u Poa?

In light of the known public health concerns (anthrax), how important is keeping the Woods Golf Course free of development?

All utilities, power, water, sewage, foundations, internet and new roads will require significant earth movement.

Starwood Capital Group should be stopped from developing any part of the Woods Golf Course.

Only by legal means and community action of course.

Are you interested in volunteering to help stop Starwood's development of Princeville’s designated Open Space?

Everyone has talents - writing emails, holding a sign, speaking up, etc. It's just a matter of picking the right moment with others to use them.

Are you aware there are PHCA residents (plaintiffs) litigating to stop Starwood's development on the Woods Golf Course?

The plaintiffs started legal action in June, 2021 with a Jan. 2025 trial date. Case: 5CCV-21-0000063.

We believe the PHCA (PV-1 Board of Directors) should support current litigation stopping Starwood's development.

Litigation brought by Princeville residents, privately funded by residents for the greater benefit of the community and with no help from the PHCA BoD.
