7/1/21 - Email Template to the PHCA Board of Directors requesting they support County Bill 2822.

Aloha Princeville Residents.

The very important Bill 2822 is on the 7/13/21 County Planning Commission agenda for discussion and public testimony.
At the April 15th, 2021 PHCA Board meeting, President Sam George said the Board supported Bill 2822.
We are asking Princeville residents to request the PHCA BoD submit testimony to the Planning Commission IN SUPPORT of Bill 2822.
If passed, Bill 2822 will make "Developed Campgrounds", ie. glamping, illegal in any of Kauai's zoned Open and Agricultural lands and we believe prohibit Starwood Capital's hotel/lodging/glamping expansion on the Makai Woods golf course, PERIOD.

RE: BILL 2822

Aloha Members of the PHCA Board,

I am writing to request that you, as the PHCA Board, send a letter to the Planning Commission supporting Bill 2822, presently set on the Agenda for their July 13, 2021 meeting.

At the April 15th, 2021 PHCA Board meeting, President Sam George said the Board supported Bill 2822. As board member Rory Enright noted, it does not resolve the 2026 Dedication issue, but would be a concrete step in the right direction.

This Bill will prohibit a “commercial Developed Campground” on the Open zoned land in Princeville I and is something that you, as Board Members and in your individual capacities, should robustly support.

Our Open Space is our most valuable asset and we believe that it is vitally important to protect ALL our Open Space. This Bill would be a critical step in the protection of our Open Space.  It is also very clear that any lack of support from this Board could have detrimental future implications on any help from the County in the coming years/decades.
