11/29/21 - Email Template supporting the 12/1/21 County Council's passage of Bill 2838
A short history of Bill 2838. Originally, the County Council created Bill 2822 as a way to control Developed Camping (ie. glamping) on Open and Agricultural zoned areas with other restrictions in the bill. On further review, and with input from the Planning Department and Planning Commission, the Council wrote Bill 2838 which is more targeted to Open Space and Agricultural zoned areas and eliminated some of the original TVR language in Bill 2822.

Bill 2838 has now been unanimously supported by the Council in its "first reading", been reviewed and signed off by the Council's Planning Committee, and is about to have its "second reading" at the County Council. When passed by the Council, it will be immediately passed to the Mayor for his approval. Once the Mayor signs the Bill into law, it will not allow Developed Camping ("glamping") on any zoned Open Space across Kauai.

This Bill is critical to STOPPING Starwood Capital Group's proposed resort expansion/"glamping" development, that they have been trying to foist on Princeville since August 2020.

To support the Council, the TEMPLATE makes it easy for you to submit your own feedback to the County Council saying that you support their efforts in keeping Open Space open for all of Kauai.
